Middle Years

Through the middle years at OLSH Thamarrurr Catholic College students are engaged in a variety of subjects enabling the ACARA Curriculum to be accessed and embedded through our learning opportunities.  Students have a ‘home room’ teacher who deliver the majority of the education in the middle years and then go to specialist teachers for Sport (HPE), Cooking, and Hard Materials.

Formal Murrinhpatha literacy is also developing across all the middle years classes where lessons focus on finding our where the students sit academically with their dominant language and we then support them to develop their formal Murrinhpatha literacy skills to prepare them for the Cert. II in Applied Languages.

There is also a Religious Education Program taught in Murrinhpatha to enhance students’ knowledge of the Catholic Faith, this includes school masses and the preparation for sacraments. By concentrating on students strengths we encourage all to strive to achieve their full potential.
